Prayer Connection - The prayer connection is my favorite part of our weekly assignments. I am continually inspired by my cadre mates and I am uplifted by their prayers and their generosity of spirit. Prayer is one of the most important parts of our relationship with God and it strengthens us on our journey. I often pray for strength and peace. I offer prayers for those around me including my students and their families. I pray for God's Grace as I make my way through life. One of my favorite versions of Amazing Grace by Mahalia Jackson is featured in the You Tube video.

Blogs - Blogs are modern day digital diaries that gives everyone with access to a computer the chance to tell a story, record some history or find their voice through words and pictures. This was my first venture creating a blog and it was a great way to express myself. In an education setting blogs are a great way to get students to collaborate, share information, keep a running journal, create a unique work of their own or create many, many other projects using written words and pictures. As a science teacher, I think a blog would be a great way for students to share data and create a lab report. The You Tube video gives a great list of ten reasons to use a blog in the classroom. The video features students giving reasons why blogs are valuable in education. Even though the video is seven years old, the information is still relevant today. |
Twitter - Micro-blogging has become a popular way of communicating with young and old alike. Initially I started using Twitter because we had an Olympic water polo player live with us while he was training and the only way we had to communicate with him during the London Olympics was via Twitter. During this course, I have learned the value of professional tweeting. By following experts in the teaching and education technology fields, you can easily build a professional learning network that is easy to stay in touch with even with our busy schedules. Through Twitter, it is also easy to share information with our cadre through our hashtag #517cadre.
